The Nikau Foundation's Lilburn Residence Support Fund
In 2022, the Nikau Foundation established the Lilburn Residence Support Fund with the aim of providing long-term support for the composer residency at the Lilburn House. This is an endowment fund particularly suitable for major gifts and bequests that have the sustainability of the residency at the Lilburn House in mind. Each year, the Nikau Foundation makes income from the Lilburn Residence Support Fund available to the Trust to assist with projects such as improvements to the property, rent reductions for the composer-in-residence, musical performances associated with the residency. (The capital remains untouched and it is our hope that, over the years, it will grow to the point where the income can provide substantial support for the work of the Trust.)
Acknowledging your donation
The Lilburn Residence Trust is a charitable trust registered under the Charitites Act 2005 (CC11020) and has been granted donee status by Inland Revenue. All donations of $5 or more are tax deductible. We will send you a receipt for your donation.
From time to time we also acknowledge our donors by inviting them to our events.
Other ways to support us
Buy and listen to music by Douglas Lilburn and other New Zealand composers. The SOUNZ website is a great place to explore music by New Zealand composers.
From time to time, we undertake special projects to assist our fundraising. You could buy the book we have published of Lilburn's two talks, A Search for Tradition & A Search for a Language. This makes a wonderful gift for anyone interested in art, music or New Zealand culture. Find out more and order.

Our funders
The Lilburn Residence Trust is extremely grateful to receive annual funding from Wellington City Council which contributes towards the cost of rates and insurance. We have also received special project funding from: New Zealand Lottery Grants Board Environment and Heritage Fund, the New Zealand Community Trust, Wellington City Council Built Heritage Incentive Fund, the Lilburn Trust and the Stout Trust. In 2014 we received a grant from the Lottery Grants Board to develop a conservation plan for the house.
